Sonja returns to the London Fringe Festival this year in her very first one-woman show - The Italian Lesson! Postponed from last year's festival due to illness, Sonja is thrilled to finally be bringing this one-woman tour de force of operatic brillance to the stage.
Based on the Ruth Draper monologue of the same name, this brilliant solo show is a dramatic and comedic vocal feat. Lee Hoiby has taken Draper's most popular character sketch to another level with his musical lyricism.
It was originally produced off broadway starring comedienne Jean Stapleton, and was paired with his setting of a Julia Child episode transcription, "Bon Appetit". Originally titled "The Busy Mother" by it's creator, this monologue portrays a New York society matron as the original "lady who lunches" - and she is truly out to lunch!

The Old Maid And The Thief is set to open at this year's London Fringe Festival at 1pm tomorrow! Just under an hour long, this English opera is a fun piece of theatre and appeals to opera neophytes and aficionados alike.
Sonja and Diva Lounge Productions were fortunate enough to share the front page of Thursday's London Free Press Today section with none other than Snoop Dogg! How's that for opera on the Fringe?
Watch the interview with Sonja and Free Press writer Kathy Rumleski on the LFPress Video Blog.
We hope to see you at one of our six shows between June 18th-26th.
